The volume of global high yield corporate debt has already topped 2009’s figure and is close to breaking an all-time issuance record, according to figures published Tuesday by Thomson Reuters.
Global high yield corporate volume totals $177 billion through Sept. 6, an increase of 96% over the year-to-date level in 2009. The market is close to breaking the 2006 record of $187 billion.
Five sectors, industrials, materials, financials, energy & power and media, comprise more than two-thirds of high yield activity for the year. U.S. companies account for about 73% of activity this year. European companies account for about 20%.
