Bank of America Hires Merrills Former Lev Finance Head

Todd Kaplan, the former global head of leveraged finance at Merrill Lynch and a 22 year veteran of the firm, has rejoined Bank of America Merrill Lynch as co-executive vice chairman of global banking.
Kaplan will work alongside co-executive vice chairman Samuel Chapin, who was also at Merrill, where he served as vice chairman and a member of the executive client coverage group. Their new posts are effective immediately. Chapin will be based in New York; Kaplan will be based in Chicago.
Kaplan left Merrill in the fall of 2008, joining Citadel Investment Group in March as head of its nascent investment banking unit. At Merrill he served as the head of corporate finance, capital markets and chief operating officer of the global markets and investment banking group prior to becoming the head of global leveraged finance.
Patrik Edsparr, Citadel’s CEO has assumed the role of head of investment banking for the Chicago-based firm.
Prior to becoming a vice chairman and member of the executive client coverage group, Chapin was head of global investment banking at Merrill.
