Amalgamated Adds Lev Finance Pros
November 18, 2009
Amalgamated Capital, a recently-formed division of Amalgamated Bank, has enlisted three leveraged finance pros to develop its underwriting and portfolio management offerings.
Sean McKeever has joined the division as first vice president, and Mindy Naylor and George Parry were appointed as vice presidents, according to Amalgamated Capital executive vice president Tim Clifford.
McKeever was responsible for underwriting senior and junior debt at Churchill Financial before joining Amalgamated. Prior to that, he helped form the leverage finance group at Comerica Bank.
Naylor was an investment officer at CapitalSource Finance, where she was responsible for structuring, underwriting and documenting private equity sponsored, cash-flow leveraged transactions for middle-market companies. She also served as vice president in the sponsor finance area at the CIT Group and spent four years with GE Antares.
Parry, like McKeever, worked as an investment professional with Churchill; he also worked as an associate at ViaFinance in Washington, DC.
Leveraged finance for private equity has been a popular option as many PE portfolio companies are coming up against refinancing deadlines and those that are not may still be looking into getting debt at a rate less than what it has been for the last 12-plus months.
Fifth Third Bancorp has launched Fifth Third Sponsor Leveraged Finance, a private equity-focused lending team. Also, two former heads of Deutsche Bank’s Asian distressed debt group have launched their own boutique investment bank, SC Lowy Financial Services, to focus on trading and advisory services for distressed debt investments in Asia
