Citigroup Reorganizes European DCM
October 6, 2008
Citigroup has reorganized its debt capital markets group in Europe into three areas, according to the Financial News. This is the first structural change and management reshuffle in the business since Eirik Winter took charge of the division in July.
The bank has created a syndicate and risk group, an origination and coverage group and an advisory and products group under Winter, according to an internal memo seen by Financial News.
Peter Apostolicas and Peter Charles will co-lead the syndicate and risk group, which will include all bond syndicate functions, as well as underwriting for any of its corporate, financial, sovereign, agency, high yield, emerging markets and covered bond clients.
Philip Brown and Maryam Khosrowshahi will lead the SAS franchise, and Melanie Czarra will run the corporate cross-border and yankee franchise. Chris Lees will run the financial institutions franchise. Santhi Athreya will cover French and Benelux corporate clients, and Paul-Emmanuel Micolet will cover financial institutions in these countries.
In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Marcus Guddat will head up coverage of SAS and financial institutions clients, and Joerg Sautter will cover corporates and insurers. In addition, Guddat will lead the covered bond business and financial institutions coverage in the nine new European Union countries.
Paolo Maestri will head up coverage of Italian and Greek clients and cover corporates in the new EU countries. Tomas Lundquist will lead coverage of Nordic, Baltic and Dutch clients, and Carlos Lopez will cover Spanish clients.
Peter Mason and Myles McBride will lead coverage of U.K. and Ireland financial institutions and corporates. Mason will also cover the Nordic and Baltic financials.
In advisory and products, Alan Patterson will run the capital management strategy advisory business, and Graham Bahan will run the liability management products team. Steve Taran will lead the sovereign advisory business.
