Barclays Capital has appointed Jeff Porphy as managing director in U.S. leveraged finance. Porphy is a 14-year veteran of Credit Suisse and was most recently the bank's head of financial sponsors M&A and co-head of middle market M&A. At Barclays, he will head the "idea generation and transaction development team," according to the firm. Porphy will report to Peter Glaser and Ted Iantuono, managing directors and co-heads of U.S. sponsor coverage, part of the U.S. leverage finance group.
Robert Crowley, the former global head of high yield capital markets at UBS, has joined Los Angeles-based advisory firm Moelis & Co. to head up a new office in Boston. His departure from UBS was announced in August. Crowley, who is a longtime colleague of Moelis & Co. founder and former UBS president Ken Moelis, will cover the home-building sector. He was previously a senior banker in the global industries group at UBS, overseeing home building and environmental service companies. Before that, Crowley was a research analyst covering the home building sector. Moelis & Co. was founded with the help of Jeff Raich, former UBS co-head of mergers and acquisitions, and Navid Mahmoodzadegan, former UBS head of media banking. Moelis previously worked for Drexel Burnham Lambert; Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and UBS. Moelis also has an office in New York City. Moelis & Co. does not have its broker-dealer license yet.
