American Tower Corp. continued its buying and building spree last week by announcing that its Mexican unit will build about 200 towers and gained the rights to build another 400 in Mexico. AT&T said it filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission for its much-ballyhooed spin-off of its wireless assets for a tracking stock. The company earlier announced that it will hold a special shareholders meeting in March to give the stockowners the chance to weigh in. Tracking stocks have become a popular way to unlock the value of wireless assets that are currently very much in favor with the capital markets.
